For decades, BMW M has spent mixing racetrack technology with daily drivability. In 2025, the installation from V8 SUVs to four-door sports sedan but which M-car is the most practical, comfortable and fun every day?
The motorsport division began only as a race track in the 1970s, but it quickly became responsible for injecting the everyday models from BMW performance. The teachings from the competition – from the mood to weight to brake systems and entire engines – came in street cars. The result was a list that was at home on a morning commuting as well as on a day of the hard lesion on the local race.
That has always been the point: a BMW M3 or M5 should be driven daily and not only saved for weekends. In many ways, you remain some of the best “one-car solutions” that you can buy. But which with today’s selection of M models -and more electrical options on the horizon -what makes the best daily driver?
What makes a good daily driver?

While individual applications for cars are as different as the people they drive, there are some criteria on which we believe that a good daily necessity must be assessed. First of all, there is a comfort in which we will include technology and creatures comfort. This cannot essentially be boiled down track-focused M-cars. Think of special expenses that deliberately avoid the amenities (for example like an armrest) to pursue performance. Most CS and CSL/GTS offers are off the table. All good daily drivers should also have four seats and a usable trunk – which is not eliminated in the current BMW M set -up. After all, good daily newspapers should be quick and entertaining, two other criteria that everyone is for sale today.
Ideally, good daily drivers are quite easy on gas consumption. While only a few current M-series vehicles that we would call as fuel sipers, we believe that this unfortunately eliminates the more ridiculous models with V8 drive models. For example, the X5 m and X6 m, although it is surprisingly powerful, reach only 13 MPG in the city. Even the M8 better than that, but offers a better dynamic for booting. So we will let her fall out of running. This does not mean that you do not work as a great daily newspaper – especially if you happen to have a private oil field or much Xon – but for “overall best daily” that the answer is elsewhere. While there is an asterisk, this also eliminates the M5 touring and the M5 sedan. Both return similarly pathetic fuel consumption – 12 MPG City/14 combined. And the XM – although we doubt that this has even achieved the list of someone.
What is the best M car for the daily trip?

So we have limited things a little, but we are still nowhere near. With little other that distinguishes a large part of the remaining line -up, the best M driver is largely what you need. We think that preferably The daily driver should have four doors, just in case you have to bring a few additional people, or pets). So that continues to cut the line -up … the M3 and the M8. Since the M3 is about half of the price, we think that it is clearly the best M car that can drive every day. To be better has all possible marginal advantages, including optics, lower repair costs and simple replacement. If you can get it, the BMW M3 touring is even more admirable thanks to the additional cargo room as a daily driver.
The once and future king?

While the M3 is the best M -everyday driver, it is a bit of ahead of the conclusion, but things could have been different. If the BMW X3 M were still in production, our hand would have been forced. Its higher ground clearance and the significantly larger cargo dream would have made it a clear decision about the M3, at least for buyers who are willing to sacrifice a pound performance for an ounce of use. The X3 m is now rumored that it will return as EV and – assuming that an EV works for your lifestyle – we can imagine writing a completely different article the next time. We have to wait and see. Until then, the M3 continues to be a M -Automobile driver’s house.
