Charged EVs | Battery tech agency Iontra closes $38-million Collection B funding spherical

Colorado-based battery know-how firm Iontra has closed a $38-million Collection B funding spherical with investments from Volta Power Applied sciences, Flag Group and others. Iontra says it plans to take a position the brand new funds in its energy management know-how and battery improvement software program.

Iontra says its energy management know-how might exchange CC-CV charging.

“Now we have discovered a elementary approach to materially scale back degradation in lithium batteries when charging or discharging,” says Iontra Chief Science Officer Daniel Konopka. “This opens the door for dramatically higher efficiency from current battery cells representing a spread of chemistries, supplies, designs, and manufacturing processes. Our know-how leads to greater than two-fold enhancements to secure charging speeds and cycle life, improved capability utilization and secure cold-temperature charging.”

In response to Volta CTO Dave Schroeder, “Iontra has developed a novel and distinctly succesful software for battery OEMs and know-how builders to enhance the design, value and worth of their merchandise.”

“After practically 10 years of laborious work from our group of scientists, engineers, and technicians; two million hours of battery biking; and a number of Third-party validation stories, Iontra’s know-how is prepared to be used in industrial battery design, deployment and operation,” says Iontra CEO Jeff Granato.

“Iontra will initially commercialize its product to be used in energy instruments, smartphones, and drones, and expects to shortly develop its product for larger-scale battery methods present in EVs, DC quick chargers, grid storage and different industrial purposes,” says the corporate.

Iontra anticipates supplying its battery know-how for industrial merchandise by 2024, and it says it has partnered with top-tier automakers.
