International automotive provider Marelli has launched a wi-fi battery administration system for EVs that can be out there starting within the second quarter of 2022.
The Wi-fi Battery Administration System (wBMS) presents wi-fi communication between the batteries and the management unit. The corporate says, “In comparison with earlier wired distributed options, the brand new wBMS reduces the wiring harness by 90% and simplifies the battery cell building and set up.”
The wBMS is accessible with software program that estimates the states of cost, well being and energy for every battery cell.
“Marelli designed each the wBMS and the Wired BMS with equivalent base architectures, supported by two alternative ways of communication and interfaces,” stated Head of Energy Electronics Expertise at Marelli’s Automobile Electrification Division Dr. Razvan Panati. “In that manner our expertise could be utilized throughout a number of car platforms with minimal change. This flexibility of the answer ensures vital discount in engineering prices and permits Marelli to make this high-end expertise reasonably priced for the mass market.”
