Charged EVs | Pilot undertaking upcycles graphene oxide from end-of-life EV batteries


Graphmatech has introduced {that a} pilot undertaking with Graphenea and Northvolt has upcycled graphene oxide from end-of-life EV batteries. “Producing graphene oxide from end-of-life batteries makes all the graphene worth chain extra sustainable and cost-effective,” says Graphenea Superior Supplies CEO Jesus de la Fuente.

“This breakthrough makes use of the fabric left after Northvolt has extracted helpful metals and minerals,” says Graphmatech. “Till now, that remaining materials has been waste.” Northvolt arrange its Northvolt Labs recycling plant to supply graphite-based materials with sufficient purity to assist the manufacturing of graphene oxide. Graphmatech and Graphenea will use the graphite-based materials to scale up graphene oxide manufacturing.
