Silicon carbide and gallium nitride know-how firm Wolfspeed has opened a silicon carbide semiconductor wafer fabrication facility in Marcy, New York. Wolfspeed calls the automated facility “the world’s first and largest 200 mm silicon carbide fab, offering uncompromised wafer high quality and better yield.”
In April, the ability produced its first batch of silicon carbide semiconductor wafers, and the corporate plans to start supplying prospects this 12 months. Wolfspeed reached a multi-year settlement with Lucid Motors to provide silicon carbide units.
Wolfspeed can also be planning a supplies manufacturing facility in Durham, North Carolina which is slated for completion later in 2022.
