2025 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix Preview

The Formula -1 World Cup 2025 continues this weekend with round two, the Chinese Grand Prix, which takes place again on the Shanghai International Circuit.

The circuit extends 3.4 miles and has 16 curves. It is known for fast corners, a smooth surface and many overtaking options. Around 80% of a round are spent on the cornering, so that the tires have difficulties to take, and strategy can make a big difference.

Pirelli nominated its C2, C3 and C4 compounds in the middle area for the race, the same combination as last year. The weather can be quite changeable and rain in Shanghai is often a feature at this time of year. However, the current forecast requires fine weather all weekend.

This year’s Chinese Grand Prix includes the first sprint race of the season. The sprint race is an independent score with its own qualification, which takes place on Friday after a first training session.

This year Lewis Hamilton from Ferrar qualified for the sprint race on Saturday on Pole, Max Verstappen from Red Bull Racing and set up a new round record of 1: 30,849 for the Shanghai International Circuit. A second qualification meeting will take place later on Saturday for the main race on Sunday.
