The next model in the EV offensive of Volvo is the ES90, a medium -sized limousine The current S90.
Volvo plans to reveal the ES90 on March 5, and in the run -up to the unveiling, the car manufacturer started drip details over the new technology that it will contain.
On Thursday, Volvo confirmed that the ES90 will share its SPA2 -dedized EV platform with the EX90 medium -sized SUV together with the same software and hardware modules – which refers to Volvo than that Volvo Cars Superset Tech Stack.

The EX90 is currently combining a single Orin chip with a slower NVIDIA drive Agx Xavier -Chip, but Volvo has announced that EX90 owners receive a free upgrade for the installation of dual -orin chips. With two Orin chips, the ES90 can process 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS) to enable fast data treatment for safety functions on AI-based sensor, sensor data processing and optimized battery management. Volvo also explained that the additional computing power enables its AI systems to develop and grow if more data is collected over time.
Volvo also announced on Thursday that the ES90 will be equipped with the car manufacturer’s latest senior suite Safe spatial technology. This includes a lidar, five radars, eight cameras and twelve ultrasonic sensors to support the various electronic driver assist functions of the vehicle.
The ES90 is one of Five new or updated Volvo models Start this year. In February, Volvo unveiled the robust EX30 Cross Country and an updated XC60. Additional expected models include an updated S60 compact sedan and a long-distance plug-in hybrid tailored to the Chinese market. The current S60 will leave the US market after 2025 and is not expected to return. Volvo still has to announce the US start -timing for these new models.
