Many car enthusiasts are looking forward to Ferrari’s first full electrical model that is due next year. Until then, there are small steps towards electrification – like the new Ferrari 296 specification.
The Ferrari 296 GTB has not won all Ferraristi-for some, a six-cylinder is a sacrilege in a sports car. The new 296 specification may no longer add cylinders, but offers 50 more horsepower, weight reduction of 60 kilograms and a sharpness aerodynamics. With 435 kilograms of output on the rear axle at 250 km/h, it clearly exceeds its siblings, the 296 GTB (300 kg) and the 296 assetto fiorano (360 kg). The name “296” refers to the 2.9-liter shift and the six cylinders, which are mounted in the middle of the story in the middle of the story. The 296 is not the first plug-in hybrid from Ferrari-es follows the SF90 (2019) and Laferrari (2013).
The power button of 4.60 meters long is a combustion engine, the output of which increases from 663 to 700 hp. This is achieved by 13 percent, new Titan connection rods, reinforced pistons and a lighter crankshaft, which saves nine kilograms alone. The electric motor is installed between the eight -speed automatic transmission and the burner engine and is only operated in electrical mode. The car can drive up to 25 kilometers purely electrically at speeds of up to 135 km/h.
The high-voltage battery of lithium ions has a modest capacity of 7.4 kWh and can be charged at up to 7 kilowatts. The 880 PS Ferrari 296 accelerates from a standstill in 2.8 seconds to 100 km/h and reaches 200 km/h in seven seconds; The open top spider lasts 0.3 seconds longer. The top speed exceeds 330 km/h. On Ferrari’s Fiorano test track it attracts 19 seconds a picture in 1 minute, which increases 2.5 seconds faster than the current 296 GTB.

The powerful hybrid system is thermally kept in chess by auxiliary coolers with a high river. The bumpers and the bonnet are made of carbon fiber while the doors are aluminum. The engine cover is available in a clear acrylic or carbon fiber. The rear wing of the specification is particularly striking and is responsible for the increase in downforce. Further improvements to the driving dynamics are provided by the lowered body-for fifth millimeters closer to the ground, which also reduces the role of the high-speed curve. The performance upgrade also includes stiffer titanium springs, electronic damper from MultiMatic and Standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tire (245/35 ZR20 on the front, 305/35 ZR20 behind), which are combined with carbon ceramic brake discs.
The interior of 296 speciale remains largely unchanged and continues its focused mixture of carbon fiber, Alcantara and aluminum. The door panels consist of a single carbon fiber block, as well as the central tunnel. For weekend excursions there is a front luggage compartment with 169 liters and a storage space behind the sports seats with a little more than 100 liters – although the seats themselves could be more comfortable. Those who want to enjoy the sun and the windstorm can choose the Open Spider version, which costs € 407,000 € 462,000 compared to the Coupé – provided that the potential buyer has bought a new Ferrari in the past five years.
