Aston Martin, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche – everyone has to keep themselves, even though spring is already knocking on garage doors at home. The first test drive of the 920 hp-plug-in-hybrid Lamborghini Temerario shifts the limits of driving dynamics into a new ball.
Lamborghini says goodbye to his naturally sucked V10, and those responsible, including CEO Stephan Winkelmann and development boss Rouven Mohr, do not make a secret that the adoption of the charismatic, natural engine in the power duo of Gallardo and Huracán was not easy after more than two decades. But after the reviewer in Sant’agata was already impressive with electrical breath, things are now becoming even more spectacular. The Huracán successor Temerario as a production version of the former project 634 not only impresses with its breathtaking design, but also with an engine output that is even more impressive than expected.
V10 Power is a four-liter V8 turbo V8 yesterday and more comfortable driver cabin roar, which has nothing in common with the base engine of the Volkswagen Group and is handmade in the main factory west of Bologna. While the most powerful version of the predecessor Huracán delivered one without less than 6 HP, the 4.71 meter long Temerario receives a crazy thrust of 920 hp. This is not only made possible by the new V8 Twin turbo, but also by a component used from the larger revuello siblings. The entire front axis of the V12 hypercars was transplanted into the much more compact Temerario, which turns into an electric all-wheel drive vehicle because there is no more drive shaft to the front axis.
“The high-resolution concept that we were able to implement with the new V8 turbo gives the car a unique character,” the development board member Rouven Mohr earns the appetite before the first drive. In the car, a short view of the big displays, the flu -like steering wheel with the still futuristic -looking rotary switches and buttons, which also appear on the fatty center console. Klapping, pressing button and the power pack is brought to life. Obviously no V10 and unmistakably a V8, which thanks to the appropriate turboconging delivers a crazy 588 kW / 800 hp and delivers a maximum torque of 730 Nm. An electric motor is hidden between the burning engine and the eight-long dual clutch transmission, which is flipped to the rear of the engine. It prevents the turbo delay and enables the engine to react particularly quickly. Two additional axial electric motors, each with a maximum output of 110 kW / 150 hp, drive the two front wheels if necessary. Your continuous outcome of 60 kilowatts ensures that the overall system output of the Italian plug-in hybrid is increasing to 676 kW / 920 hp.

The first rounds on the test track near Modena show not only the incredible power of this new energy bundle, but also the mobility of the Temerario – in this regard, the difference to the huracán could even be greater than the increase in electricity – thanks to the new aerodynamics, suitable chassis and a stiffer overall package. When you penetrate, braking and accelerating are not only impressive, but also just great at least after you get used to the racetrack with your tight radius and never ending hairpin bends.
The route is dry, the curbs harmless and so you can press the Corsa mode. More and more willing things more and more aggressive over the short high-speed course. The thrust delivered by the four liter of Turbo in cooperation with the electro front axis and the power module in front of the gear is almost crazy. At full throttle, more than 340 km/h is possible on the highway, and a standstill to 100 km/h takes significantly less than three seconds.

The torque is so massive that the route in northern Italy could almost circle with only the third and fourth gear. But in front of narrow corners it is in second place, then up to the third and fourth place, since the REV -Counter easily passes over 9,000 rpm. For a long time you can even go into fifth gear for a long time – only to be compressed by over 220 km/h. Again – the Temerario is simply too fast for this track; But it seems with its mobility, not only because of the significantly larger bikes (20-inch front / 21-inch back).
This increases a lot of stability when braking and switching on and helps massively with the acceleration of tight corners, although the Temerario creates in contrast to its big brother without rear control. Since the two cars are technically so closely linked, it is likely that technical functions such as a rear wing or a rear control can follow in later sports versions.

Despite all the dynamics and this first trip to the racetrack, the Lamborghini Temerario can also do things differently: more comfort inside, space for two travel bags in the front trunk and behind the seats, and instead of sports seats, optionally ventilated comfort seats – or the option to leave an electrically electrically electrically electrically electrically electrically electrically kept from the underground parking lot or in the residential area.
For this purpose, the electric motors are driven by a battery with only 15 x 3 cm, which can be charged via a plug with a capacity of 3.8 kWh, if only up to seven kilowatts. But is there currently a more impressive plug-in hybrid? Certainly not on a race track.
