Pirelli P Zero R tires for 992.2 Porsche 911 GTS Hybrid developed

With the start of the new 911 GT, Pirelli’s relationship with Porsche comes into a new chapter in a first hybrid in the six decades of the model. In order to support the requirements of the innovative drive train, Pirelli has developed a tailor-made version of his P Zero R-Performance tire and a dedicated P-Zero winter. Both tires wear Porsche’s N brands and describe their joint development and manufacturing.

The P Zero R is developed to improve the dynamic driving qualities of the 911 GTS without affecting everyday user -friendliness. The tire has a newly formulated connection that offers a strong grip across all conditions, the focus on the traction of the wet weather. Low rolling resistance contributes to the energy efficiency of the hybrid, while the sophisticated profile geometry holds cabin noise on a minimum. The balance between sport and comfort makes it ideal for the double personality of the GTS.

The winter performance is also covered. With the new P Zero Winter 2 tires, 911 GTS owners can experience the intentional handling all year round. Its directional design improves the handle to wet and snow -capped surfaces and at the same time keeps the reactionability and braking stability under dry winter conditions. Even stiffness ensures consistent traction and control at low temperatures.

Both tires were developed using Pirellis Virtual Development Center in Breuberg. This simulator-based process reduction has reduced the development time by 30% and reduced the dependence on physical prototypes. The technology enabled Pirelli to create the tire properties with Porsche engineers and to create an equipment that was optimized for the unique requirements of the Hybrid 911.

With more than 330 homologations in Porsche’s full model area, including the Scorpion All Terrain Plus for the 911 Dakar and Trofeo RS for the GT3 RS, Pirelli’s recent cooperation with Porsche increases his leadership at OEM -Performance figures. The P Zero R for the GTS hybrid is only the latest example of how simulation and joint engineering can provide exceptional results on the street.
