Ferrari replaces the SF90 Stradale with a name for serious weight – Testarossa. It is delivered with the modest prefix “849”, but provides more strength, more emotions and a front end directly from Daft Punk’s wardrobe.
The current Ferrari design language is not for everyone. This darkened fascia, which was introduced with the 12Cilindri, continues with the 849 Testarossa. The most striking feature is a nose that resembles the slim sunglasses that is worn by the pop duo daft punk and is paired with a strong front splinter.
Compared to its predecessor, the SF90, the drive train was significantly improved. The 4.0-liter V8 with two turbochargers produces 611 kW (830 hp), supported by three electric motors and a plug-in battery system. An electric motor is mounted at the back, with two more powerful 163 kW (220 hp) units at the front, which not only adds punch but also all-wheel drive mobility, all of which are orchestrated using an eight-speed dual clutch gear.
Together, the four engines deliver an immense 772 kW (1,050 hp) and a maximum torque output of 842 Nm at 6,500 rpm. From Stillstill, the 849 Testarossa sprints to 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds and reached 200 km/h in less than 6.5 seconds. The top speed exceeds 330 km/h.
The cabin largely reflects that of the 12Cilindri, including the mixture of touchscreen, physical switchgear and voice control. An unusual detail: The trunk room is 74 Litres room more than the 68-liter fuel tank.
Despite the lack of large spoilers, the 849 Testarossa still creates a significant downforce. At 250 km/h, aerodynamic magic generates 415 kg grip. Ferrari also thinks green: For the first time in a series production model, engine care components such as cylinder head, crankcase and oil sump from recycled aluminum alloys are produced, which reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 80 percent per kilogram of material.
The pricing for Ferrari’s latest superstar is expected to start around half a million euros.
