The electrical SUV market heats up and two of the biggest names of the game – BMW and Tesla – appear in a battle of design, performance and technology. With the start of the brand new IX3, BMW shows its bold new class design language and the next generation EV hardware in a package that aims to aim at the always popular Tesla model Y.
Outer design

The latest redesign of model Y means that it should stay pretty good at a glance – also next to something that is as modern as the IX3. While the outer design is always a bit subjective, we think that the IX3 is an excellent film for the minimalism of Tesla. The first NEE class SUV does not throw a particularly busy design. But his new kidney grille gives you enough to know that it is a BMW. The Tesla looks comparatively much more inconspicuous. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but there is no question that the IX3 is the newer design here. Similar criticism can be raised on the back of the model y. We also believe that the integrated spoiler in the rear roof line was a large contribution to painting the IX3 as a sportier option here. The Tesla model Y is 8 mm (a third of customs) longer and 11 mm (0.43 inches) larger than the IX3. It is enough to say, so close as almost differently. Significantly, the IX3 has a wheelbase of 2897 mm (114 inches), which, if hardly, is longer than the Y model. (It measures 2,890 mm or 113.8 inches.)
Interior design

Aesthetically, the IX3 seems to share more with the Tesla model Y than with the gas-powered G45 BMW X3, with which it shares a name! The layout is terribly similar, and the lack of a measuring device – a change -BMW has beaten most rivals – is immediately out. It remains to be seen whether the skipping of a traditional measuring cluster becomes an industry standard, but there are many other places where BMW Tesla apparently copied and then made better. The dashboard is illuminated and the console under the screen has a more targeted design. The steering wheel looks much overcrowded on the IX3, but when you consider that the car keeps stems behind the steering wheel – an unpopular change that Tesla has made for the conversion of the model Y – we will still give the victory here. We also train our bets on quality when we are slightly better when we drive the Bavaria.
Performance

The electrical IX3 can accelerate from zero to 100 kmh (100 km / h) in 4.9 seconds. This comes with the kind permission of a dual engine setup and an XDRIVE all-wheel drive, which is responsible for obtaining 345 kW/469 hp and 645 Nm (475 LB-FT) torque to the ground. The Tesla model Y is currently not being offered in Performance GUI -the new model is now due every day -but it is not necessary to send the IX3 in a quick Stoplight race. If you simply fled for the long-distance all-wheeler model, you will be from zero to 60 miles per hour in a 4.6 seconds covered by Tesla. We think it would be a tight, closer race in the real world. We also think that the IX3 will be more fun elsewhere than when it is twisted. Why? Cool details such as 49:51 front/rear weight distribution, a revised five-link back axle, sportier steering wheel and … well, only intuition.
technology

In contrast to the Tesla Model Y, the BMW IX3 is equipped with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. This is a big win in our book. BMWS Panorama display here and there are many small extras that we believe that they give him an advantage over model Y. For example: a speedometer that does not look away from the street to look at himself. New voice commands, the aerial clockwork, the upcoming AI and adaptation functions as well as staling functions such as BMW Digital Key and my BMW app do almost every Tesla on the tech front. Oh; And then there are the driver aid. BMW adds the municipal assistant functionality, which enables the IX3 to control itself.
While the Tesla model Y remains a benchmark for practical and straight speed, the BMW IX3 is a Frederer, more sophisticated option. Its design feels sharper from the inside and outside, its driving dynamics promises more commitment, and its technology suite offers BMW an advantage over Tesla in key areas. Ultimately, the choice depends on brand loyalty and priorities – but if you want the latest expression of what an electric SUV can be, the IX3 makes a strong first impression.
