2027 BMW 7 Series Facelift reveals shared headlights and new interior design

BMW is currently preparing a facelifting for its flagship 7 Series, and such a prototype has now been tested at high speeds on the German motorway. The sighting gives us another look at the mid-cycle update of the luxury sedan, which develops more than just a mild refreshment. From shared headlights to a new interior design, the 7 Series LCI (life cycle impulse) develops with some brave changes.

Front design: Split headlights return

Until recently, every 7-series prototype on public roads seemed to avoid the controversial split headlight setup. This turned out to be a clever cladding. Just like BMW, when the current G70 debut in 2022, the engineers initially camouflaged the luminaires of the upper LED for Trick observer during the day. Now new Autobahn spy shots confirm that the splitting layout stays here. Rectangular excerpts in the camouflage show a thin LED strip at the top of the fascia, while the main headlights in the bumper sit deeper. This agreement has already caused a lot of debate, and its introduction to the facelift shows that BMW is obliged to the look. In view of the close relationships between the 7 Series and X7, the SUV will probably also accept the same lighting signature.

Heck -updates: light rod and new class influence

The back end of the motorway prototype reveals another big update: a light bar with full width. Although the car was carrying temporary clear taillights, the shape and size of the rod are clearly visible. Interestingly, the illuminated strip seems to connect across the trunk and to be halved by the BMW Roundel, a design cue that we saw for the first time on the 2023 Vision New Class concept. This design development indicates the intention of BMW to combine its flagship with the upcoming new class models. The prototype discovered on the highway has no pipes, so it is unclear whether this is an ice cream or an EV -7 series.

Inside Tech: Idrive X takes over the line

The interior committees that have accompanied this motorway viewing, in which you can see the inspiration of the new class, are even more interesting. The processed 7-series series is expected to reject the familiar dual-screen IDRIVE 8.5 setup. In its place, Idrive X, anchored, comes from a central touchscreen and a new Panorama display from BMW, which projects information in the entire width of the windshield. This technical rollout will follow the new class IX3, the IDRIVE X is debut to the public.

Unveil the timeline and production

The production of the 7 series achieved is still a distance and is scheduled to begin in July 2026. This indicates an official revelation by spring 2026, which BMW gives time for the fine-tuning of its luxury flagship before customer deliveries begin in the second half of the year. Of course, the new BMW 7 series will continue to be sold in the USA in addition to the i7 Electric Limousine. [Photos: Michal]
