BMW has been selling a Langrad 3 Series in China since 2012 to bridge a gap up to the 5 Series. This will not change for predictable, since the next generation of 3 should come out in 2026. An elongated version will be available under the internal code name “G58”. The extended derivative is sold on site next to the standard wheel sedan of the rest of the world as a “G50”.
BMW intends to sell another Lenga sedan with long bikes, but it will probably no longer be based on the Clar platform. Instead, the more spacious EV changes to the new class architecture and takes over the name “Na8”. Our sources have informed us that China will also receive the globally available standard standard model (“NA0”). It means that there will be four different 3 -series flavors in China. Who said that limousines were dead?
The chances are good that the larger 3 “G58” will not be exclusive to China. The current “G28” in India is also manufactured and sold as a refreshment. In recent years, BMW has expanded its LWB list beyond limousines by also offering elongated versions of SUVs. The X1, X3 and X5 were all developed with an LWB version for China, whereby the X1 is also available in India. The stretched cars are usually more luxurious and offer more delicacies for rear passengers over the additional legroom.
We do not expect any important design changes between the standard and long-wheel models. There could be a handful of China-specific improvements, but the most important modification will be the introduction of larger rear doors for the stretched wheelbase.
Before the current 3 Series retired, BMW has just launched a 50 -year edition in China. It celebrates half a century of the 3 Series, in which more than 20 million units were sold. The limited special version has both the wheelbase options and a selection between a four -cylinder gas engine and the Electric i3. In view of the largest milestone, we expect other anniversary versions for various markets all year round.
