The Mile-Muncher 5 series is back. BMW Classic visits Juhha Bäckmands E39 after reaching a significant milestone with his luxury limousine. The mint conditioning car has now covered over 1,000,000 kilometers (621,371 miles) since it was rolled by the assembly line more than 29 years ago. It was built in Green on June 10, 1996 and was in Bäckmand’s possession from the very day day.
In order to celebrate the performance, Bäckmand made a brand new BMW best to buy. It is also a 5, but the similarities end up there. For the beginning it is a full electric i5 in a all -wheel drive specification. It is also more practical because he decided on the touring version. The oxid gray metallic color may be a bit brave, but nothing corresponds to the clean design of the E39.
It is not surprising that social media is already humming from comments and many claim that the EV will not take nearly as long as the 523i. You could make a similar argument about most modern cars compared to your predecessors, as this is not a BMW-specific problem. It is too early to say whether Juha Bäckmand intends to get close to the mileage of his estimated E39.
Due to its track record, this i5 touring is in excellent hands. We assume that it will be treated just as carefully. Reaching a million kilometers in an EV is not unknown, and simply ask Hansjörg von Gemgeden-Hornberg, who in his Tesla model s from the end of the last month over an amazing 2,444,999999-kilometer (1.51 million miles). However, it is worth noting that the car has run through four battery packs and 14 electric motors, so it is far from its original condition.
Hopefully we will receive an update via the BMW i5 in the coming years, especially with regard to long -term durability. Juha Bäckmand seems to be the ideal person to test the reliability of the G61 and compare it with his E39 survivor.
