When Alpina retired in September 2022, there were no plans to bring it back. Well, not that we knew about ourselves at that time. However, management has changed since then. After acquiring the niche luxury brand, BMW is now calling up the recordings and would like to expand the 7 Series portfolio again. Not today or tomorrow, but with the life cycle -impulses of the G70. While the changed BMW model is to enter production in July 2026, the Alpina counterpart will follow a year later.
Let’s talk about power. As you may remember, the no longer existing B7 had 591 hp from the barrel, but we look forward to reporting it BMWblog learned that the revival of Alpina 7 series will pack a monstrous 617 hp. It will be the most effective 7 with a petrol engine in the flagship limousine story of BMW and will surpass the previous B7 and the M760i with its mighty V12. Regarding which engine you get, all signs refer to the S68, completely with a mild hybrid setup.

This time, BMW does things differently with the Alpina Badged 7 series. Instead of a single B7 model, it plans an additional inline-six-740 taste. The siblings with eight cylinders could bear the 760 pointed name. In addition to the gas models, two purely electric members could be: 80 and 100. We expect the latter to act the strongest 7 Series with up to 671 hp on the barrel.
Sources near Munich claim that BMW has assigned another code name to the Alpina models. Instead of sharing the internal name “G70” with Munich 7 Series, Buchloe’s cars are known as “G72”. Alpina will pamper the processed 7.7 from July 2027.
Elsewhere in the line-up, we recently reported on the X7 of the second generation, which has received alpina treatment. We are excited to see which other BMWs will follow, since the portfolio will probably include more than these two models. The chances are good that the focus is on the high-end cars. So don’t look for another B3. At the moment of writing, we have heard nothing about a dedicated Alpina model that is separated from the BMW list.
