Even if the Pebble Beach and Car Week are underway, it is important not to forget that BMW is still celebrating a huge milestone this year: 50 years of the BMW 3 Series. The limousine, which has set a new benchmark for what a luxury compact can be, is officially half a century old. BMW did not let them forget it and offer a solid spread in front of the BMW house in Pebble Beach.
BMW E21 3 series

The first generation of the BMW 3 Series, the E21, made his debut in 1975. It replaced the beloved 02 series, which set the bar for dynamics in a compact luxury limousine. Inside, a driver -oriented cockpit was actually in the direction of the driver – the first of many, many BMWs. A new dashboard in the style has easily laid the control elements within reach of the driver. The E21 remained in production until 1983; 1.3 million examples were sold.
BMW E36 3 series: M3 lightweight

BMW has brought an E36 M3 lightweight to present the E36 3 series, which is a bit like bringing a Bugatti into the test of your driver, but hey, we don’t complain. The E36 3 series made his debut in 1990 and was produced until 2000. The second generation E36 M3 was specially built for US markets. BMW was not sure whether a full pop M3 would sell well in the USA. So they opened the standard -3 engine a little and put them in an M3. The United States lost a lot of electricity and an engine with six individual throttle valves, but gained a very reliable and low -maintenance owner experience. The lightweight you see here is one of only 126 cars. It has a slimmed-down interior and a serious aero kit that makes it a track day specialties.
BMW E92 3 series: M3 in Fire Orange

The E92 M3 was the highlight of the fifth generation 3. This is another special car, because we are mostly sure that it is a car with Lime Rock Park Edition. While customers have a small map of the Lime -Rock park in the window of the rear driver’s side, early press recordings show an identical car that lacks the same detail. The E92 M3 (and its limousine and convertible sisters, the E90 and E93) remains the only M3 that is powered by a V8 engine. LRP cars received special extras, including the competitive package and a light inconel titanium exhaust sound. His great performance delief and communicative steering make it a very unique experience – especially in 2025.
Although we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the BMW 3 Series most of the year, we are not yet fed up. One of the most legendary types in history deserves appropriate recognition. And it looks like BMW is just investing. Flying the photos in the gallery below and direct a look at some of the coolest 3s to this day.
