We have been talking about the second generation M2-CS for more than two years. That is correct – the first spy shots appeared in April 2023, and BMW still has not officially unveiled the hot coupĂ©. However, the rear wheel drive machine is only a few days if not hours, away from the cover. To make it easier to wait, the M Division has released the first and possibly last teaser. This is still not disguised.
Although the quick transition between frames could be somewhat confusing for some of us after a certain age, some details can be seen. Shifting pads behind the steering wheel confirm earlier reports that BMW will only offer the M2-CS with the eight-speed automatic transmission. If you prefer to row your own gears, you have to hold onto (Do you get it?) With the standard model. It is also clear that the prototype contains a duck tail spoiler that is reminiscent of the M4 CSL and the M3 CSL E46.
Despite the heavy camouflage, a more aggressive front cladding is already obvious. The Wrap does a good job to hide carbon fiber components that would otherwise be optional for a standard -M2 M2. BMWS Camo also hides a special color for competitive sports. Rumors indicate that it is a purple or violet shadow, possibly something in between. Interestingly, the M2 CS does not seem to have yellow day running light like earlier CS models. In view of the fact that we are at the official debut, BMW would probably have installed it if they were planned.
The test car drives on black wheels, but BMW also sells the M2 CS with striking golden bronze lines. The teaser clip indicates a darker finish for buyers who prefer a back look. BMW also offers more subtle color options, although the M2 CS does not fly exactly under the radar.
While an M2 XDrive reports on development, the CS version remains strictly in the rear wheel drive. BMW consumes the S58 engine to around 523 hp and corresponds to the base M4. This improved 3.0-liter twin turbo inline-Six should enable the M2-CS to sprint in just 3.8 seconds from 0 to 62 km/h (100 km/h).
The M2 CS is probably the new model M, which will be unveiled this weekend in Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este. The spotlight will share the spotlight with an even more exclusive vehicle: the recently trapped M8-based Speedtop shooting brake.
