After Alpina was taken over by the BMW Group three years ago, she will enter a new phase from 2026. It will be an Oberluxury Marque between high-end BMW and the cheapest Rolls-Royce models. Time expires for the current cars, but a new company continues the inheritance of the late Burkard Bovensiepen.
His sons, Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen, have founded a new company that is separated from the BMW group. Her first car is a joint effort with Zagato, based on the M4 convertible. However, the G83 was transformed into a coupé with a double roof written by the Italian design house. We saw the Coupé cabriolet for the first time in the Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este in May, and the Coachbuilt Special also performed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the weekend.
Although it is charged as a GT car with a focus on comfort, the Bovensiepen Zagato is still a performance machine. It already had a solid foundation by borrowing the basics of the G83, but now the inline-SIX engine delivers even more electricity. The S58 produces an additional 79 hp and 50 Nm (37 LB-FT) and reaches 602 hp and 700 Nm (516 LB-FT). It is 0.4s faster up to 62 km/h (100 km/h) than the M4 convertible on the way to over 186 km/h (300 km/h).

It looks very nice when it goes up the famous hill, but you have to ask yourself how many people will pay the steep premium via an M4 coupé. The pricing for the columnless coupé has not been completed, although Bovensiepen Automobile GmbH says that it is targeting € 400,000 to € 500. The final prices will be announced at the end of the year before delivering from the second quarter of 2026.
In addition, 50 people have taken an estimated € 750,000 for the purchase of the BMW 3.0 CSL, a refoded M4 -CSL with a manual transmission and a little more power. Perhaps there is a market that is large enough for the Bovensiepen Zagato designed by Milan, especially since the “strictly limited” production course indicates high exclusivity.
We hope that the company has what it takes to be successful, since more variety in the BMW world is always welcome, especially if such an important family is involved. The talented team of designers from Zagato on board is the icing on the cake.
