BMW shows the new IX3 charging at 403 kW

With up to 800 kilometers of WLTP range, BMW aims to eliminate the concern once and for all. The number is even higher in China, where the mild CLTC test cycle rates the IX3 at 900 kilometers. In the United States, the revised electric frequency crossover offers around 400 miles and is therefore one of the longest electric vehicles in North America.

BMW also deals with another important concern for EV owners: charging time. A new video published on social media shows the 2026 IX3 prototype at 403 kW, something above the previously cited maximum of 400 kW. Under ideal conditions, the battery can increase 350 kilometers WLTP range (350 kilometers) in just 10 minutes. Finding a charging station that can deliver 400 kW is another matter.

The 800-volt electro architecture doubles the maximum loading force compared to the outgoing IX3 more than. The previous Clar-based model reached a climax of only 150 kW and was only able to add 62 miles (100 kilometers) in 10 minutes. The new class IX3 also has a change from prismatic to cylindrical battery cells, which increases the energy density by 20%. His predecessor managed only 460 kilometers WLTP area per load.

While the Instagram Clip is impressive, it is worth noting that the new IX3 400 kW is not continuously maintained. The system can maintain the top rate for about 3-5 minutes before it gradually rejuvenated. Nevertheless, a 20-minute session can charge the battery from 10% to 80%. In the USA, BMW is equipping the IX3 with a native NACS connection and enables seamless access to Tesla supercharger and the IONNA network without an adapter.

Apart from the improved battery and the charging system, the IX3 finally wins XDrive. In contrast to its predecessor of the rear wheel drive, the new version will have all-wheel drive setup with dual-motor all-wheel drive. BMW probably also offers an RWD configuration with an engine, and Logic tells us that this will be the most efficient of the property.

Whole details will be announced in early September when BMW unveiled the IX3 at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich. Production in the Debrecen plant in Hungary is expected to begin at the end of 2025. The versions bound in the United States are due at some point next year.
