It was over a month since BMW promised a new unique car. We will finally see the mysterious vehicle in Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este this week. In the meantime, teaser images make the round on social media and cause fans to unlock the mystery. We only said that it is a “dynamic, elegant, exotic” car, but a detail could reveal his identity.
A close -up of the rear shows two strips of thin LEDs, one shorter than the other and serves as taillights. Look familiar? Skytop concept from last year he had shown downwards, he had a similar rear light design. Although BMW has not yet displayed the production version, it is unlikely that these teaser will show a street model. After all, the German luxury brand said that it would reveal a new concept rather than repeating an existing show car.
BMW describes the new unique model as a “elegantly sporty classification that offers two pleasure for two”. Suppose it is related to the skytop, what could it be? We notice the same electrically operated winglets that are built into the belt to open the doors. Another teaser shows a heavily angled tailgate with a large roof spoiler. It doesn’t look like a convertible, right?

Another droptop model would not make much sense, so we tend to something with a solid roof. We would be excited about a coupé version of an already beautiful car. A more practical shooting brake would also be exciting. It would help heal the wounds after the Z40i-based concept touring coupé was not highlighted for production.
If BMW makes a second version of the Skytop, it could be the last hurray for the 8. A coupe or a shooting brake would probably be based on the M8 coupé, which was already pulled out of the US market. Since then, the Skytop concept has developed into a production car with 50 units. We hope that a fixed roof counterpart will also get the thumb upwards from Munich’s managers. The Targa Top Stunner was an immediate success and could have encouraged the higher ups to approve a follow-up derivative. Crossed thumbs.
The 2025 Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este starts on Friday, May 23rd, so the wait is almost over.
