Design is the No. 1, why people choose a car via another

What is the most beautiful car ever done? Ask ten people and you will probably receive ten different answers. Some will say that the Jaguar E-Type, others will swear from the Mercedes 300sl Gullwing. Maybe it is the Lamborghini Miura or the Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Split-Window-Coupé? Opinions will also vary within a single brand.

In the BMW world, the most common answer you hear is the Z8. However, I believe that his source of inspiration outshines it. The 507 roadster, especially with the factory hardtop, is an absolute stunner. The less well-known Z07 concept with its double bubble roof is in just under a second. At BMW, the company itself believes that design is the decisive factor in the car opening process.

The board member for customers, brands and sales, said Jochen Goller, told Automobile news Europe This design remains the strongest sales argument of a vehicle: “The design remains the number 1 purchase reason.” He believes that the appearance of a car ultimately determines why people choose a model via another. However, other factors are also important: “Craftsmanship and materials are still important. They also need a leadership technology.”

Goller spoke specifically about the new IX3 and called it a “nice” car, but customers will probably select it for its technology via rivals. He referred to everything that brings the new class platform with new batteries and engines up to Idrive X and the immense computing power of the so-called “heart of joy”.

Beyond the cars themselves, BMW believes that the presentation also plays a crucial role. An uncomfortable retail experience can switch off customers, even if they like the car. For this reason, traditional traders develop into “experience centers” as part of the retail next program in which the company invests hundreds of million euros.

But everything starts by car. Design is without exception what attracts people first. With the new IX3, BMW introduces a fresh look that is spreading to more than 40 models by the end of 2027. Smoothed, cleaner surfaces aim to deactivate styling, which has increasingly employed in recent decades. Inside, the reduction is even more dramatic. Well, maybe too much, given the fact that few conventional controls remain.

Speaking of interiors emphasized that the material quality remains a key factor for the purchase process. It can be heard that BMW recognizes this when you consider that the latest models have been criticized that it has lost part of the high-end ambience that is expected by a car with the round. Hopefully it is a sign of a return to the shape.
