Throughout the history of BMW, they launched a few different 3 -series models on the market with the “IS” badge. In general, it is a sports package and limited to two-door coupé models. Usually a “IS” to is a late model year in which the best engine of the model is advertised and may even not be available for additional performance parts for the car.
The treatment of the 335is by BMW embodied the formula. BMW made it only in the second half of the production of the E9X generation and left the factory considerably less than pedestrian 335i models. If you dig deeper, it is easy to see that the 335is is the Magnum opus of the E9X generation. A biggest hits collection, if you like, from the parts that the E9X 3 series have caused to stand out from their competitors -in time and even over a decade later.
The 335is offered unique drive strand options


When the 335is started, BMW from the Twin Turbo N54 had widespread on the single turbo n55-inline-Six. This is not necessarily a bad thing – after all, it is a step closer to the B58 we know and love today. However, it is significant that BMW puts the older engine in the Top-Dog 3 series and dual turbos add a feeling of occasions that the N55 cars are missing.
The 335is makes 320 hp and £ 332 torque (370 staying over). That is 20 hp more and 32 additional pound foot than the comparable N55 unit. Unofficially, BMW chose the N54 compared to the N55 because they could better get the Twin Turbo mill.
BMW improved wherever he could. The 335is received an improved cooling system with an additional cooler and a more powerful fan that is unique for the model. The front bumper was optimized to enable a better air flow, and the car received an oil cooler that was normally reserved for sports and M sports models. Stiffer motor assembly rounds off under the house, and a sports exhaust system increases the metallic, Whoshing vocals of the N54. The sum of the parts is the largest possible N54 in a 3 series series.
The 335is only came with rear wheels, but how the strength did there was everything up to them. A six-speed manual transmission was available, but a fantastic double clutch transmission was just as tempting. The seven-speed box is the same that the M3 and 135i, and 135is and six-cylinder E89 Z4 models received, and offered bad shifts. No other non-M 3 has been given access. Details are important


The 335is would already be the best E9x generation 3 Series if BMW would stop in the drive train. But they didn’t do it and added decent little details that felt an excellent car something special. Of course, all 335is came as LCI models, so that revised headlight and rear light designs as well as a light hood and a cooler grille improvement. All 335is models were equipped with M-sports systems such as Shadowline trim and received a model-specific rear diffuser and light metal wheel design.
Inside, BMW gave the 335is a lot of M -Sports. A dark gray instrument cluster was also unique for the IS models -also decorated with “335is”. The passenger side of the dashboard has also received a badge.
The 335is are as good as the E92 and E93


The 335is is undoubtedly the best E9X 3 series between the remarkable drive train, the standard M-sports delicacies and the exclusive aesthetics. It is even more important that it not only pays the fan service-Alte school-hydraulic powerful steering and a good age inline-six means that it also embodies the deep cuts of “real fans” sooken ten years later. The 335is is therefore a curated collection of everything that the generation did so great – the biggest hits of the E92 and E93 in a car.
