The rivalry between the 5 Series and its two domestic rivals is unsurpassed. BMW, Mercedes and Audi have been in a violent competitive luxury segment in the throats for decades. When we talk exclusively about the current generation cars, the model with the four rings is the latest from the group that only gives a few months. The other two were launched almost simultaneously in mid -2023. So far, the 5 Series is the undisputed leader in Europe in terms of sales.
Numbers published by DataForce and quoted by Automobile news Europe Show BMW sold 20.402 5 Series and wagons until April and marked an impressive increase of 56%in the first four months of 2024. This number does not include the full electrical i5, with a further 8,843 units added, which corresponds to an increase of 55% compared to the same period of the previous year.
From January to April, Mercedes only sold 15,811 E-Class models and another 3,740 EQE units. It is worth noting that the E-Class and the EQE are completely different vehicles, while the 5 and i5 share the same platform. DataForce reports that the demand for gas, diesel and plug-in hybrid e-class rose by 19%, while the demand for EV decreased by 22%.

Although the A6 has just changed a generation, it was possible to sell 13,774 units by 10%. When a car manufacturer replaces a car, there are usually some downtime. Nevertheless, it looks like the new A6 has a strong start. Nevertheless, we can ask ourselves whether a significant part of these deliveries is actually the model of the previous generation. If you are mainly the new version, the mass will probably come out of the car because the sedan was released a little later. The demand is expected to increase in the coming months, since Audi will use the plug-in hybrid A6. Therefore, BMW has cut out its work for warding off the competition from Ingolstadt.
We are not allowed to leave out the Audi EV candidate in this segment, the A6 e-tron. Sold as a five -door orders and as a car, the noble electric car, achieved 7,460 sales. There is no comparison with the period of January and April 2024, since the car was started in the second half of the last year. Like the EQE, it drives on a dedicated platform.
The German trio dominates the segment, since only two cars from other brands cover the top 10. Volvo trails far behind with the S90/V90, whereby only 2,722 limousines and cars were sold by April. Maserati registered the Ghibli last year. Nevertheless, the Italian luxury brand still sold 51 limousines from the remaining inventory. When Jaguar spoke of non -operated cars, he pulled the plug on the XF in 2024.
BMW will give the 5 Series a new class class class in mid-2027. In addition to taking over the new design language, the car also receives the next generation IDRIVE X-Infotainment system. We also heard of a new option for a passenger screen.
