It was a long time ago that BMW dared to use the idea of a real shooting brake to flirt-da the head, which with love, love, the days of the Z3 M coupé, lovingly described the “clown shoe”. This car was a strange, part of the genius, and it left a silhouetting hole in the line-up for years. Today this emptiness is wonderfully filled on the sun-drenched banks of the Como lake. Meet the BMW Concept Speedtop: A three -door ode with limited runs to the passion that was presented on the 2025 Concorso d’Elanza Villa d’Este.
Form follows flame
The Speedtop concept takes the touring ethos and clearly waves it through the lens of a design team in its golden hour. Imagine a long, three-door Grand Tourer with the pulse of a GT and the soul of a fine leather travel bag. The Adrian van Hoydonk crew calls it a “exclamation mark” in the line -up, but that underlines it – this is a punctuation that you can hear through your breast. The shooting brake profile is unmistakable, but in contrast to everything else in modern automobile landscape.

The long central spine, which plays from bonnet to spoiler, transmits some of the design information of the Skytop concept of last year, but here it is wrapped into a color-delayed cape: a course of “Floating Sunting Mary” to “Floating sunset silver”, which shines with warm Twilight tones. The visual drama continues in the shaped fenders, the muscular rear boy and 14-speeches, two-tone bikes, which would not look out of place on a lawn by Pebble Beach Concours.
Craftsmanship, not mass production
Inside, the manual tendencies of the Speedtop are fully equipped. This is not just automobilluxus. It is rolling craftsmanship. The interior bathes its inmates in “Sundown Maroon” and “Moonstone White” leather, which are sewn with details in brogue style that are more reminiscent of the classic shoemaker than modern dashboards. The headliner even carries the spine motif with an illuminated leather beam, which cuts through the cabin in subtle symmetry. And yes, the trunk is also fully lined with leather and burned.

But what really differentiates the Speedtop from other concept cars with champagne taste is that it is not just a design study – it is intended for the open street. Under the bonnet is the most powerful V8 in the BMW portfolio. This probably means that the 4.4-liter V8 from S68, which comes somewhere north of 617 hp, is pumped by a chassis that is probably tailored to the same high standard as the M-Performance Division of BMW.
Built for the few that should be driven
If the Aperitif Skytop was, the speedtop is the main course. BMW will build just 70 unitsA clear alluding to exclusivity and a wink to those who understand the mixture of rarity and beauty. It’s not just a collector’s item. It is a statement. A car that proves that BMW can still play in the niche corners of the automotor design, where passion exceeds practicability.
The cooperation with Italian leather masters is also worth mentioning Schedonithe handmade tailor -made luggage for the speedtop has. Two assembles are perfectly behind the seats and a suitable weekend -duffle is properly in the back. This is not just a car – it is a travel companion that is tailored in leather and sewn with speed.

The early judgment
The BMW Concept Speedtop is a celebration. Of individuality. Of excess, in the best way. From the joy that arises from the structure of something that does not have to exist – but should do it. For those who complain about the shift of the Mainstreaming brand, their refutation is: a Z3 m Coupé spiritual successor with more elegance, more horsepower and more bragrot than anything on the street.
And like all great things from Munich Fever Dream Factory, Blink and they will miss it – because only 70 happy souls can call one as their own.
