Deliveries of the iX3 (“NA5”) 2027 will not begin in the USA until next summer. Still, BMW USA is eager to provide a glimpse of what’s to come after the electric crossover’s U.S. launch. The i3 sedan (“NA0”) is scheduled to go on sale locally sometime in 2027. However, we don’t have to wait too long, as the world premiere is planned for next year.
Although it is still too early to provide concrete pricing information, an educated guess is possible. The iX3 50 xDrive costs around $60,000 in the US, but sedans tend to be slightly cheaper than their crossover counterparts. Even better: BMW is planning cheaper iX3 40 versions, with and without xDrive. The single-engine, rear-wheel-drive crossover will cost under $55,000. Therefore, we can expect a base i3 to initially be available in the low $50,000 range. Ideally, it could even fall below the $50,000 threshold.
In this context, BMW USA is already praising the “ZA0” with the words: “We can assume that the electric M3 will be breathtaking.” However, don’t wait for the top model to be available immediately with the regular i3. According to reports, the high-performance electric sedan will go into production in March 2027. It remains unclear whether this production start applies to all markets or only to certain regions such as Europe.

Meanwhile, the standard i3 will go into production at the BMW Munich plant in July 2026, with US models following in November. The first North American offerings could be limited to the 50 xDrive and 40 xDrive models. It is believed that alongside the full-fledged M3, an i3 M60 xDrive will also go into production in March 2027.
The i3 and iX3 are two of around 40 new or updated models that BMW plans to launch worldwide by the end of 2027. All are part of the resurrected Neue Klasse range, which also includes a new 3 Series coming next year. The “G50” sedan, which will be offered with four- and six-cylinder combustion engines, is just one of several vehicles planned for 2026. A revised 7 Series (“G70”) and the next generation of the X5 (“G65”) are also scheduled to appear next year.
All of these models are coming to the US, along with an all-but-confirmed return of ALPINA’s 7-Series. The most luxurious “G70” variant is scheduled to launch next year based on the revised sedan and go on sale later in 2027. Don’t be too surprised if it has a separate code name (“G72”) and offers an electric drive in addition to gasoline engines.
