BMW is pleased to report that the Spartanburg plant was the greatest value of the automobile last year. According to figures published by the US Ministry of Trade, the SUVs made in South Carolina for export markets were worth a whopping 10.1 billion US dollars. Almost 225,000 units from the “X” line -up had the country gathered in 2024 by a total of 396,117 vehicles. A fun fact was built there last year – almost half of the BMWS sold in the USA in the USA.
From 2014 to 2024, the Spartanburg location exported more than 2.7 million BMWs, which corresponds to around 63% of all vehicles produced there. During the 10-year interval, the SUV sent to other countries had a combined value of more than $ 104 billion. Most vehicles were transported over the port of Charleston (Image below) and four other ports on the east coast.

BMW makes the X3 -X7 models in Plant Spartanburg together with the XM. The most important export markets for these models are Germany, South Korea, China, Canada and Great Britain. It is worth noting that the X4 disappears without a direct replacement. The production of the “G02” will end until the middle of the year.
The luxury car manufacturer will build at least six electric vehicles in Spartanburg by 2030. The first of the pile is programmed to meet the assembly line towards the end of 2026. Of course, BMW will not reveal the identity of the model based on the X5 “G65” of the next generation. A full electric IX5 on the Clar platform is planned. In 2028, a hydrogen IX5 will join the installation with a Toyota fuel cell.
The Spartanburg factory from BMW will probably also produce IX6 and IX7 models based on the future X6 “G66” and X7 “G67”. Like the smaller X5, the noble SUVs keeps the Clar platform instead of switching to new class. The smaller IX3 was not confirmed for this factory, but BMW said that it will do the electrical crossing in Mexico in the San Luis Potosi plant in 2027.
An IX4 is also supposed to come, although it is unclear where it is done. We would not rule out the US factory. Logic tells us that the electric car has less to do, which is still too confirmed. Opportunities to wear the “Made in the USA” label.
