The new BMW iX3 arrives at CES 2026 ahead of its US summer launch

At an event that isn’t primarily about cars, BMW is rolling out the proverbial red carpet for the 2027 iX3. The Consumer Electronics Show focuses primarily on technology, and with today’s cars becoming rolling computers, it makes perfect sense to showcase the electric SUV in Las Vegas.

Keep in mind that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the iX3 in the US. The “NA5” made its debut on American soil back in September at a special event at Bathhouse Studios in New York City. However, CES 2026 will make the first modern New Class model available to a much wider audience. Additionally, BMW made an extra effort by launching two different vehicles to highlight some of the customization options available.

Both are the “50 xDrive” variant, as this is the only version available at launch. Another thing the two vehicles have in common is the M Sport package. BMW decided to use different body colors and wheel designs to differentiate them from others. Painted in Space Silver, the iX3 rides on 22-inch wheels, while the Ocean Wave Blue show car has a smaller 21-inch set.

We were allowed to take a look inside their cabins, where the optional sports steering wheel was the common element. BMW chose Castanea imitation leather upholstery for one iX3 and black Individual genuine leather for the other. More daring customers can opt for a white interior and even combine it with a white steering wheel.

Although the 2027 iX3 is currently making a splash at CES, early adopters in the US will have a long wait. Deliveries in North America won’t begin until summer. Pricing isn’t set yet, but we know the base model will start at around $60,000. A cheaper entry-level variant is scheduled to appear in early 2027 with a single-motor setup. This rear-wheel drive version is expected to start at around $55,000.

All iX3s for the US market will come from the Debrecen factory in Hungary, possibly after production starts at the San Luis Potosí factory in Mexico next year. As in most parts of the world, only the standard wheelbase version is intended for America. A stretched “NA6” derivative is scheduled to come onto the market in China in 2026.

If SUVs aren’t your thing, the i3, which debuts this year, will launch in the US in 2027. The electric sedan built in Munich could be slightly cheaper and possibly offer more range thanks to its lower body. We’ve also spotted an iX4 prototype, but it’s too early to say if it will be sold in the US
