The new M2 CS is not perfect. Several important features that enthusiasts would have wanted are missing, including a manual. While BMW has not announced an official lap time of Nürburgring, we learned that the compact sports car with rear -wheel drive is almost as fast as the M4 CS and M4 CSL. M -development manager Dirk Häckker told BMWblog During the Le Mans endurance race last weekend, the new M2 -CS corresponds exactly to the lap times of its larger brothers.

We also expect that an M2 XDrive, which is not confirmed for the time being, will arrive beforehand. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that it is much faster than the CS.
Our bet is on a future CSL to become the Lord of the Ring under the BMWs of production. It would not be the first time that an M2 received the CSL treatment. As a refreshment, the F87 brought a unique prototype that remained secret by 2022. We hope that the G87 has a better chance of transforming itself into a CSL that customers can actually buy. Since the CS only arrives now and the XDRIVE model meant for 2026, it is unlikely that a potential CSL will end up before 2027.
