Crossovers and SUVs may have taken over, but the 3 Series in the Premium segment is still the top. With the start of a 50 -year edition in China, BMW celebrates another milestone. Apart from half a century since the E21 started in 1975, Bayern are happy to be delivered more than 20 million cars from the 3 -series line that have been delivered so far. It is sufficient to make the 3 Series the best -selling luxury car ever.
The impressive number takes into account all derivatives of the 3 Series. We talk about the car and the deceased Gran Turismo -Schrährheck. BMW also looked at the coupé and the convertible before the two-door models moved into the 4-series line-up in the early 2010s. At about the same time, China received a limousine from Long Wheelbase 3 Series, which continues to sell it. The elongated model is the basis for a full electrical 3 series. The EV is only available in China as I3.

Almost forward until 2025, and the 3 Series has entered the last phase of its seventh generation (G20) since the next generation car came out next year. The G50 retains the INLINE SIX tradition for the M350 and M3 models. It is unclear whether a car has been deregistered, but we know that it is wearing the internal code name G51. Hopefully the long roof model will survive a different life cycle.
The eighth generation model is as good as the first 3 Series that BMW does not build in Munich. The historical work will only accumulate electric vehicles from 2027. Production is expected to begin in November 2026, but the M3 (G84) will only meet the assembly line in July 2028.
BMW is separated from the Clar-based 3 series another Electric i3 (Na0), but instead on the new class platform. A long -wheel base i3 (Na8) is also planned for China. The chances are good that the gas car will also be stretched for the local market.
The 3 Series served for decades as a limousine of the BMW entry class. However, this changed in 2017 when the 1 -series sedan (F52) came out in China. Two years later, the 2-series gran coupé for global markets was released and finally replaced the short-lived 1-series sedan.
