Allison Transmission has been awarded a $6.55-million contract from the US Military’s Floor Automobile Programs Heart to develop its Subsequent Era Electrified Transmission, which is meant for parallel-hybrid autos. Allison will use the funds “to design, develop and take a look at an electrical hybrid sub-system in Allison’s Subsequent Era Electrified Transmission for armored fight autos.”

The Subsequent Era Electrified Transmission features a 220 kW electrical motor and inverter that present on-board automobile energy. “Our expertise will ship electrical hybrid propulsion utilizing blended torque that gives edge-of-the field efficiency or true engine-off silent mobility,” says VP of Protection Applications at Allison Transmission Dana Pittard.

Allison says American Rheinmetall Autos has chosen the Subsequent Era Electrified Transmission for its Optionally Manned Combating Automobile (OMFV) providing, and it expects the transmission to fulfill the US Military’s OMFV and Fundamental Battle Tank necessities.

“For fleets which can be creating new wheeled or tracked autos, Allison can tailor a transmission, electrical hybrid or electrical propulsion answer particularly for that software,” says Pittard. “Allison engineers and manufactures dependable and absolutely customizable propulsion options, so prospects expertise diminished downtime and elevated skill to perform mission targets.”
