BMW operates an official museum as part of its headquarters in Munich. For armchair travelers, however, the car manufacturer started a kind of online museum in which detailed information and photos of models from 1928 were delivered when BMW started building its first cars.
The online museum, which BMW refers to as a product catalog, Currently lists 424 vehicles– And an even higher number when models from Mini and BMW motorcycle are recorded, both of which have had their own product catalogs since 2021.
Vehicles are organized according to model series, decades and body types with a search bar with which users can quickly find certain models. Each entry contains photos and specifications and in some cases links to additional publications such as brochures, workshop literature and specialist books.
The selection of the 3-series model series, for example, narrowed the decades until the 1970s, 80s, 90s and 2000s as well as the body types too compact, convertible, coupé, limousine and touring. The selection of the 2000s shows the E46 generation and the selection of the Coupé body style is further refined to 12 different models, including rare variants such as that M3 CSL and M3 GTR.
