BMW 1 series only fetches four stars in the Euro -ncap -Crash test to

When a car is subjected to a crash test, a top security assessment often feels like a matter of course. After all, customers pay a bonus compared to mainstream models in the same segment. However, these additional costs do not always guarantee better security. Euro NCAP recently tested the new BMW 1 series, and the result was not great.

A four-star rating is not catastrophic, especially since Euro NCAP’s procedures have become more difficult over the years. Four stars in 2025 have more weight than a few decades ago. Nevertheless, it is disappointing to see how a BMW does not remain the full five stars for an entry -level model. The 1 series is still wearing the round, so it is reasonable to expect top brands.

So what went wrong? The 1 series with the M Sport package dismissed poorly when evaluating adults in residents and only managed 78%. The euro -ncap punished the compact assembly line at the frontal offset, where it showed weak protection for the chest and the left leg of the driver and the legs of the passenger.

With the frontal -mpact test, the car only achieved 8.9 out of 16 points. In contrast, it reached the maximum 16 points in the lateral impact and 3.7 out of 4 in the rear impact. The results were stronger in other categories: 84% for the protection of children in residents, 80% for security assistants and 85% for endangered road users.

To be honest, BMW did not develop the “F70” from scratch. Despite its new internal code, it is essentially a strongly updated version of the previous “F40”. When this model tested this model in 2019, it brought a full five stars. But as I mentioned, today’s standards are far more strict.

Although the euro ncap has carried out the latest test for a 118, the evaluation extends to a variety of variants. It confirms that the score also applies to the configurations of 116, 120, 123 XDRIVE, M135 XDRIVE, 118D and 120D. You can access the detailed report under the following link.
