It is 2025, but BMW sold two i3/i8 cars in the first quarter

It feels like I have written this story a few times. Well, maybe I have because BMW’s original “i” agautos have to die. The company’s quarterly declaration hidden is a surprising announcement: the i3 and i8 still appear in the sales cards, years after the setting.

However, two were sold until March, according to BMWS frustrating mode operandi, i3/i8 sales are bundled. It does not matter whether both I3S, i8s or a role. We remain amazed at how much of not sold stocks were left after the end of the production. While the i3 name continued after the quirky assembly line had been broken off, the sale of the Longwader i3’s limousine is summarized with 3 series figures.

BMW gathered the last i3 assembly line in mid-2022 after nine years of production and around 250,000 units. The i8 is even older and left the line-up in mid-2020 after 20,465 plug-in hybrids, which were manufactured in six years. Most i8s were coupes (16,581), while the Roadster made the remaining 3,884 units.

The “I” duo was produced exclusively in the Leipzig plant from BMW in Germany. They may remember that the i3 also had a combustion engine. It was a two-cylinder unit that was borrowed from one of the Roller from BMW and converted as a range of extenders. It did not carry out the bikes instead as a generator to charge the battery for a setup, in which there is a revival today.

The BMW Group is currently relying on conventional plug-in hybrids. In the first quarter of the year, PHEV’s turnover rose by an impressive 25% to 47,935 units. Full of electric vehicles, 86,440 units sold achieved even better or 9.9% compared to the first quarter of 2024.

We will observe the sales cards all year round to see whether i3 and i8 have another appearance. Funny fact: the duo made up 36 sales in 2024, compared to 755 in the previous year.
